I was blessed to have a date night with hubby Friday night. Our church was offering dinner and a movie that was filmed by one of our church members. I was so excited to see his work as it was filmed in Africa. Oh, and it met my number one requirement, it was free! Well, the day was long, and I was feeling blue as our town experienced our first soldier killed in action this week. He was only 21, shared the same unusual first name as my oldest son, Stephan, and was in the Army. My Stephan wants to go to Westpoint and serve in the military. Also, I am an Air Force brat, and ex-Navy wife, and my sister serves in the Air Force. This hit so close to home! I was also missing our three in Ethiopia and didn't want to answer the same question over and over..."How's the adoption going?"
So I asked hubby if we could just go out somewhere for a couples dinner as I didn't feel like a lot of chit chat (which is highly unusual for me!) I didn't want to spend the extra money so I scoured the interenet for coupons, and found a 45th anniversary special at a restaurant. So we went where anyone would want to go to get away, Benihana and their hibachi grill! HA! One couple at our table decided that the experience wasn't intimate enough so they left leaving us and another couple with their son. As the dinner went on, we began talking about our families. They were amazed at how the Lord has grown our family and they have even considered adoption. We shared stories of our children and of course, we had to show off our children as my hubby happily pulled up their photos on his phone....oh technology!
At the end of dinner the lady asked if we would be interested in their two children's hand me down clothes.....which I of course said yes to! Now neither families were in our hometown, so it will take some work to get together for a clothing swap. I thought that it was such a kind gesture from complete strangers and we exchanged phone numbers, etc. Then the bill came and they insisted on paying for our bill! I have tears in my eyes just typing this. Oh, we were so blessed! They, too, felt blessed by our divine appointed dinner and our hearts for adoption. So thank you, Carlos and Jackie. We are so humbled and thankful. On the way home, through my amazement and tears, I mentioned to my hubby how we had such an amazing dinner and fellowship, and it still met my number one requirement, it was FREE! God is good!
